County Awards Dinner:

Now that you've submitted your records, come to the awards dinner and see how well you did!  At this dinner, Middlesex County leaders distribute award pins for those who submitted excellent projects, excellent 4H stories and more.  Last year, Woodville Trailbusters earned a host of awards.  Let's be the largest contingent there this year!  If you don't have a ride and you want to attend, let us know.  It's possible you can hitch a ride with another 4H group.  Attached is the invitation "2010 Middlesex County Banquet."

Fundraisers:

The Egg Hunt fundraiser is scheduled for April 10 with a rain date of April 11.  Someone made an anonymous donation of $100 to help us fill eggs.  Also, people have donated about 175 plastics eggs so far.  We still need more.  To help publicize this event, the club needs a flyer.  Any member who wishes to create a flyer, should give one to Sue. There is a prize for the flyer we use.  The time of the event is 10am until 2pm.  Its $3 for each child under 12.  At the event, we'll have popcorn, snocones, petting zoo, games and a hayride.  The hunt for eggs will take place in "Winnie's 100 Acre Woods" and children will have friendly guides.

Here's our To-Do list for the Egg-hunt:

1. Every member must bring small toys or candy to fill plastic eggs/baggies with. Parents will be filling the bags on March 17, so bring your items before that.

2. Trail guides - We decided at the March 3rd meeting who is going to be a trail guide and what they'll be dressed as.

3. Signs - We need a volunteer or two to make big signs with info to put out front at Sue's and at Edies.

4. Games - We need people to run games such as egg in a hay stack, put the tail on Biz, bean bag toss

5. Face Painting - We need volunteers for face painting

6. Petting zoo - Kelsey is bringing cow, lamb and ? Biz volunteered Chris to bring rabbit and something else. Chickens - Sue's What else? Will need set up fencing and some farmer to oversee.

7. Hayride - sometimes we need someone to help on and off

8. Elaine and I thought putting a few decorations or small scenes that do not need to be manned, Like Scarecrow, wheelbarrow and a large carrot made by Rose, Biz and Anna; Butterflies, Animals, Whatever just make the barn and woods look more like spring and Winnie the Pooh's 100 acres woods. Elaine's dragon will be here hatching her spring eggs, the halloween eggs have hatched and left the nest.

9. Need to decorate or cover up the two stockade fences on trail we use for Halloween.

10. The flyer is in color, Sue ran copies and mailed to all preschool and day cares listed in the phonebook for local towns and a few tack shops. Does anyone have access to print another bunch to give to members to place in stores?

11. Popcorn - Will need an adult to make popcorn (hot oil)

Food Pantry/Community Service:

Winter Walk:

The Bells have participated in this winter walk for the last two years and have found it to be a lot of fun.  It's for a good cause and refreshments are served at the end.  If you want more information, email Karen Bell.  Here's the info: http://www.winterwalk.org/register.htm
From their website: Winter Walk is a 5-mile community-oriented walk to benefit HomeStart's mission to end and prevent homelessness.
When: Sunday, March 14, 2010 Where: starts at 1pm at the Unitarian Universalist Area Church, 11 Washington St. Sherboro

National Audubon Society:

The Audubon has an ongoing clean and clear effort at their Broadmoar property in Natick. This is an excellent community service opportunity available to any interested club members. Best of all there are many dates and no pre-planning required. You just need to show up prepared and help out for as long as you can.  The meeting place is 79 South Street, in Natick.  Remember to dress for the weather!  Warm socks, gloves, and layers are helpful.  The Audubon will provide work gloves and hand tools, but you can bring your own if you wish.  It is recommended to bring a water bottle.

Drill Teams:

The club's drill teams are starting up.  Drill Team A, coordinated by Melissa and Elaine, will perform at the Larters show near the end of July.  The first practice is right before the next meeting (March 17th- 5:30ish) to organize the team.  Members of Team A are Cory, Kelsey, Lauren, Anna, Biz, Brianna, Rose and Abby.  Alternate is Emma.

Drill Team B, coordinated by Sue, will perform at spring Fun Day.

Rail Painting:

The rails and standards for jumping need to be painted over April vacation.  If you'd like to help coordinate this, please talk to Sue.  If you're just available to paint for a little while talk to Sue. It's not a big job; it just needs to be done.
